Bookstore Manager

Position Summary: As an Employee in the book publishing industry, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and insight into the various aspects of the publishing process. You will work closely with our team of professionals who are passionate about their craft and dedicated to fostering an inclusive and creative work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the onboarding process for authors, and craft makers looking to sell their products in the bookstore.

  • Draft, send, and track contracts for authors and craft makers.

  • Oversee the uploading of ePubs, book blurbs, and covers to the bookstore website.

  • Upload and maintain product listings, including descriptions and images, for books and handcrafted items.

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote the bookstore and its offerings.

  • Create and post advertisements and promotional content across social media platforms.

  • Ensure a smooth and efficient online shopping experience for customers.

  • Maintain an organized and updated catalog of books and products.

  • Collaborate with authors, artists, and vendors to support their sales efforts.

  • Monitor and analyze sales trends, adjusting strategies to maximize revenue, and report to Vice President of Phoenix Voices monthly in a report.

Requirements:

  • Writing and Editing Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of grammar and punctuation.

  • Organization and Time Management: Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Adaptability and Initiative: Willingness to learn and take on new tasks, with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and a high level of resourcefulness.

  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team, including communicating and collaborating with authors, editors, and other publishing professionals.

  • Proficiency in Technology: Comfortable using word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs) for manuscript formatting, as well as basic knowledge of spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets) for tracking submissions and organizing data.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems is a plus.

  • Creativity: A creative mindset with the ability to contribute innovative ideas for promoting anthologies and engaging with the target audience.

  • Experience: Prior experience in anthology coordination or publishing is advantageous but not required.

  • Commitment: This is a remote internship opportunity, allowing flexibility in scheduling and location.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Respect for diverse voices and experiences, with a commitment to promoting inclusivity and representation in the publishing industry.
